KINGSTON, ON – Novari Health is pleased to announce that Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) has implemented the Novari eRequest® referral management and central intake software technology.

KHSC has embarked on a transformational process designed to improve access to care, standardize workflows, and improve efficiencies for referrals received by four pilot specialty offices: General Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Urology, and General Surgery. The Novari eRequest technology is the enabling system to support this innovative transformation and KHSC is pleased to have implemented this technology in three out of the four pilot groups thus far, with General Surgery planning to go-live in Fall 2022.

The software as a service (SaaS) technology is being provided as an electronic means to manage the processing and workflows associated with inbound referrals for the specialty offices. Referral workflows for these specialized services are complex and still paper-based at most Canadian hospitals. The Novari Health technology provides administrative staff and clinicians with real-time data on the status of patient referrals that are managed in the system.

The Ontario Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, and hospitals across the province have been working to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients. Having a modern referral management, wait list management, and electronic workflow system complements these efforts for all patients including those waiting for surgical and medical consults, surgery, and other procedures.

Novari Health’s innovative and unique access to care technologies are live and being implemented at dozens of hospitals and regional health authorities across Canada. KHSC also looks forward to the opportunity to integrate the Novari eRequest technology with its planned Hospital Information System (HIS) implementation in the future, further enhancing integration functionalities for the hospital.

At KHSC we are constantly seeking new ways to offer the highest quality care, and we are pleased to implement this solution developed by Novari Health. By ensuring that referrals to our specialty programs can be handled digitally we hope to streamline workflow for our staff and facilitate patient and primary care communication.” – Elizabeth Eisenhauer, OC MD FRCPC, Innovation Lead, Kingston Health Sciences Centre

“As hospitals recover from the pandemic, enhancing care coordination, wait list management, and efficient workflows is essential. We are proud to enable KHSC’s innovations in these areas with Novari’s modern digital health solutions.” – John Sinclair, CPHIMS-CA, President, Novari Health
