Novari Health Launches Surgical Overdues Management HUB Technology in Response to COVID-19 Crisis
SYDNEY, NSW – As the global pandemic continues to strain access to elective surgery, Novari Health has launched new technology to help manage COVID-19
The Novari Centralised Surgical Wait List Management HUB™ consolidates real time surgical wait list information from hospitals across a region enabling improved coordination and transparency of surgical services. Using wait list management data, analytics, digital patient transfer and interactive mapping, this innovative software supports ministries of health, regional health executives, hospital leadership, surgical service managers, chiefs of surgery, and individual surgeons to better manage and coordinate surgical services.
The system consumes real time data from hospitals using the Novari ATC™ surgical wait list management and eBooking solution, as well as the Epic hospital information system (HISs/EHR) to present users with a consolidated regional view of patients queuing for surgery and other procedures.
The system’s real time wait list data can be used to identify long waiting and other patients across the region and enable coordination of surgical services to achieve shorter wait times and improve operating theatre efficiency. The system was designed to enable regions to collaborate and coordinate their efforts and resources.
Knowing which hospitals, surgical services, and surgeons across a health region have the longest and shortest wait times, along with the ability to easily identify groups of waiting patients, allows every decision maker in the region to make informed decisions and coordinate their efforts.
The system uses modern graphical analytics to allow users to visualise health system surgical data for both waiting and completed cases. The information can be filtered by date, hospitals, surgical services (e.g., orthopedics, general surgery, oncology, etc.), diagnosis, procedure, wait time, priority, and cancer, etc..
Shortening wait times by transferring patients from one hospital site to another is complex. The Novari HUB manages the transfer referral process regardless of the IT systems used at each site (e.g., Epic, etc.). Every hospital can send and receive transfer requests.
The system’s interactive mapping features display regional surgical wait list information. Mapping this information allows for an immediate visual comparison of surgical volumes and wait times by geography, data range, surgical service, etc.
Often, hospital surgical programs operate independently of each other with minimal coordination of resources or wait lists. The system was designed to enable regions to collaborate and coordinate their efforts and resources.
With a real time view of every patient waiting for surgery, wait time variations for any type of procedure across hospital sites and individual surgeons can be easily identified. Once identified, the system can help facilitate the coordination necessary to transfer eligible cases to where capacity is available in an effort to maximize throughput.
